Recent Social Snappers Events

In the last week there have been two Social Snappers Events, we went on a walk along Collins Street in the Melbourne CBD, and then we went to the Abbotsford Convent.  Both days were fantastic, and the weather was great.

Collins Street

Our trip along Collins Street started by getting off the train at Parliament Station and starting at the Spring Street end and making our way to Spencer Street, getting back on the train at Southern Cross station to go home.  The weather wasn’t bad, though by the time we were about 3/4 of the way along a cool change had come along and we were getting a little cold. We stopped at the Lindt shop to have afternoon tea, it was about half way and seemed like a great place to stop.  I really enjoy the social aspect of these excursions as well.  Having people along with a good sense of humour really helps.

Here are some of the photos that I took on the excursion.

Abbotsford Convent

On Thursday we were off to Abbotsford Convent, in Abbotsford, and old Catholic Nuns Convent that has now been reborn into a arts precinct.  The old buildings are still there, and it is nice that it isn’t a private place so you can just wander around them and take photos.  You can also go inside many of the buildings to take photos.  It is a very casual place to go.  We had afternoon tea at the Bakery there, which was lovely.  We sat outside and just enjoyed the afternoon.  The weather was great for the excursion.  After that we spent a lot more time in the gardens taking photos of the flowers, something that most of us seem to enjoy doing.  Was a great way to spend the afternoon.  One of the ladies that came was new and she said she was worried because she thought it might be too serious, but I think she was relieved that there is a lot of emphasis on the social part, and we just have fun.

Here are a few photos from the afternoon.

If you would like to join us, on either the Sunday outings or Thursday outings, then please send me an email.  The next Sunday outing is Fitzroy Gardens, and Thursday’s is a trip to Eildon doing some photography close to the car, well road side photography really.
